Prostate Health and Pleasure - What you need to know

prostate health and prostate pleasure

The prostate is a walnut-shaped gland that is part of the male (penis-owner) reproductive and ejaculatory system. It is highly regarded by backdoor pleasure enthusiasts because of the earth-rocking orgasms it provides.

Understanding what the prostate is, where it is, and what it does can help you unlock layers of sexual pleasure you haven’t yet experienced.

What is the prostate?

The prostate produces a fluid that is added to semen during ejaculation.

The fluid the prostate creates is what gives ejaculate it’s trademark milky appearance.

This prostatic fluid is essential for male fertility.

Inside the fluid are nutrients to help semen survive the long journey to (potentially) impregnate a person’s partner. It also makes it easier for your little swimmers to move around.

The prostate surrounds your urethra (where urine exits your body) at the neck of the bladder, which is why you may feel like you need to urinate when you orgasm.

The prostate has two or more sections that are enclosed by an external layer of tissue.

How the prostate changes over time

Your prostate grows as you age. It grows in two separate stages, once during puberty, and again around the age of 25. This prostatic growth continues during most of a man’s life.

After puberty and into your twenties, your prostate is about the size of a walnut. It can get to the size of grapefruit if you’re not monitoring it’s size.

If the prostate gets too large, it can put pressure on the urethra causing a multitude of urinary and bladder issues.

Prostate health: preventing unwanted difficulties

You’ve probably heard of prostate cancer and even begign postatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is an enlarged prostate. The latter is incredibly common, happening to some 9 in 10 men by the time they’re 80. WIth both BPH and prostate cancer, there is no straightforward action plan for how to avoid them. However, there are a number of lifestyle changes you can make to help promote prostate health:

  • Regular masturbation and ejaculation

    • Some studies have shown that men who ejaculate at least 21 times in a month have a lower likelihood of developing prostate issues later in life.

  • Eating a healthy, low fat diet

    • Studies have shown that men who at a high amount of fat regularly had an increased risk of prostate cancer. By reducing the amount of fat you eat daily can help your health overall.

  • Eat for fruits and veggies daily

    • The vitamins and nutrients in fruits and vegetables are thought to reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

  • Minimize dairy products

    • In some studies, men who ate the most dairy products had the highest risk of prostate cancer.

  • Exercise often

    • Studies of exercise and prostate cancer have shown that those who exercise frequently have a lower risk of getting the disease.

  • Eat more of these to help avoid BHP:

    • Sesame seeds and other foods rich in zinc

    • Salmon

    • Tomatoes

    • Bell peppers (capcicum)

    • Avocados

    • Watermelon

    • Apricots

    • Soybeans

    • Pumpkin seeds

    • Tofu

    • Edamame

Men who have a BMI of 30 or higher tend to have a higher risk of developing prostate issues.

Try and lead a healthier life by reducing your caloric intake and exercising regularly.

Prostate & pleasure

The prostate is often called the “p-spot” in the sexological community. This is harkening to the female G-spot because they are considered homologous, meaning they are made of the same tissues. The prostate can bring a unique form of pleasure that your standard penis-stimulation can’t compare to.

There are two main ways you can pleasure the prostate:

Externally, no backdoor penetration

Time to play with your perineum!

Also known informally as the “gooch” or “taint,” you can provide indirect pleasure to your prostate without getting your hands dirty.

To find it, take your finger and press it gently behind your testicles, moving towards your anal opening.

You’ll notice that there are firm muscles behind the testicles, as you get closer to the anus, you’ll find a softer spot.

Here, you’ll want to apply more pressure with your fingers.

Alternatively, you could try stimulating the perineum with a vibrator as well!

Internally with backdoor penetration

If this is your first anal adventure, go back and read Part 1 of our Anal 101 series to understand your anal anatomy better. Generously lubricate your finger and slip it into your anus.

About 2 inches inside of the rectum (roughly knuckle deep) you’ll want to curve your finger up towards your belly button.

Feel around for a half-walnut shape (NOT THE SAME TEXTURE OR HARDNESS,) that’s your prostate!

You may not have an explosive orgasm on your first try, but it is something well worth a few goes!

Taking care of your health and your prostate are integral parts of having a healthy sex life.

So enjoy yourself!
