9 signs someone values you
Affection and attention vary from person to person, but one thing has to remain constant while you’re dating.
You should only spend time with someone who values you.
That means they appreciate you, help your beauty shine, and give you the space to be yourself all the time.
Keep an eye out for these signs someone values you so you know whether or not to kick him to the curb.
1 - They listen when you speak
No one can pay attention 100% of the time, especially if you're a bit of a chatterbox. But if someone values your time and who you are, they'll remember little things about you. It'll take more than a few dates to see if the person you're dating retains the knowledge they need to win your heart. But see if they do any of the following:
Remember your likes and dislikes when it comes to food or drinks
Recall if you've worn a garment or accessory before and comment on it positively
Remind you of upcoming events you've discussed or date ideas you've shared
Things like these mean that when you speak, they're actively ingesting the words you're saying. This is a critical clue that they're into you and value you.
2 - They respect your time
Time is never found, only made - as I always say.
Therefore, to incorporate someone new into your life, you have to actively make space for them.
If someone values you, they'll make time and space for you in their life.
They'll text you back in a timely fashion.
They'll respect you when you're busy or need to rest.
Overall, they show up to meetings together on time or close to it (or communicate they'll be late).
They are showing that your time is important.
It also demonstrates that they'll likely continue to feel that way.
They may not actually value you if they are consistently late, message back at weird hours, or anything like that.
3 - They celebrate your other priorities
If someone values you, one sure sign is that they understand there are other people who deserve your time and attention.
You've lived an entire life before meeting this new suitor.
Therefore, you have plenty of other things going on and coming up. If they respect and value you, they'll encourage you to fulfill these priorities and see your friends.
Having a developed social life means you're an exciting person who easily forms social bonds.
This means that you're a desirable person to be around. If they want to be part of your world, they need to show that they respect others in your social sphere.
4 - They respect and remember your boundaries
Boundaries are often the most challenging aspect of relationships once they get intimate.
Wanting to know everything about our partners or broaden their horizons is a beautiful aspiration.
But knowing and respecting a person's boundaries is a critical way to show you value and respect them.
If you've set boundaries around your time, your aspirational partner should respect and honor those boundaries.
Suppose they start pushing you to change early in your romantic relationship, then it's time to move on.
If they don't respect you initially, that means they won't respect you as time goes on.
5 - They're vulnerable and open
Vulnerability is a big thing when forming romantic connections. Vulnerability is the ability to show who you are and know that you'll be accepted. Being vulnerable is a sign of trust and strength - but also self-awareness. Suppose your new romantic partner isn't interested in sharing anything about their past. In that case, they're hiding some aspect of themselves.
Being vulnerable and knowing that you're safe is how we form bonds with each other in the treetops. Vulnerability looks a little different in the modern world, but it will feel the same.
6 - They celebrate who you are
You fall in love with other people because of who they are.
Their likes, dislikes, hobbies, quirks, and you fall for all of it when you fall in love.
So by being vulnerable and showing your identity, you're allowing them to fall in love with you.
If they fall in love with you, they should celebrate and embrace all your gorgeous weirdness.
Whether you collect antique cookbooks with horrible photographs or make portraits of pets out of cat hair.
If they don't love and celebrate everything about you, they're not worth your time.
7 - They're committed to resolving conflict
Whether this is your first date or your tenth, you need to know that they're committed to overcoming conflict.
Conflicts, accidents, and misunderstandings happen every day, especially as you start to spend more time together.
If your date gets up upset about something and refuses to try and see your side, best to leave them alone.
When you're in a relationship, you have to be a team.
That doesn't mean everything is always fifty-fifty. Sometimes someone else has to pick up the slack, but the crucial part is that you take turns.
That you value your relationship more than you value being right.
Figure out how the two of you overcome conflict together, and you'll be able to last the test of time.
8 - They tell you how they feel
If you like someone, you let them know, right?
Every person you date will as well.
If they can't tell you in so many words, their actions will show it clearly.
You'll know if someone wants to be with you and start an authentic relationship together.
If the person you're dating is apprehensive or hesitant to talk about feelings, know that this isn't likely to change.
9 - They want things to progress
Situationships seem to be the most popular form of "relationships." With so many people available on dating apps, there's always someone else to try. But if the person you're dating really likes you and wants to be with you, they'll let you know. They'll bring it up maybe even a few times, and it's a conversation worth having.
The most important aspect of this is that you listen to this: If they tell you they're not ready for a relationship, don't want to rush into things, or aren't the relationship type - listen. They're telling you the truth.
If the person wants to be in a relationship with you, they'll tell you. Likewise, their actions will tell you if you're not that important to them.
Find your value in dating coaching
Dating is hard. It can feel hopeless, overwhelming and ultimately question your self-worth if you're not careful. But, do you know why it's such a minefield? Because we're not taught how to form healthy bonds or communication patterns when we're young.
If you think about it, as women, we were taught that if a boy pulls your hair or knocks you down, that means he likes you. What the hell is that? Accepting that forms of violence and abuse represent love and caring? Stop accepting that behavior in men. If they want to be with you, they'll step up. Likewise, you need to step up if you're going to attract the type of man worth keeping. Stop devaluing yourself and start embracing who you are to find the right guy.
